The first ever Wick & District Summer Pool League got underway on Monday night with Blackstairs "1" and Camps "2" scoring impressive 8-2 victories.
Perry Campbell's Blackstairs side traveled out to Lybster as they met The Commercial in their opening match.  Tam Sutheland, Stuart Mckenzie and Campbell won all of their frames as they helped their side to an 8-2 win.  Sandy Robertson & Wayne Claxton won their singles for The Commercial.
Ryan Carter's Camps "2" side got off to an equally impressive start with an 8-2 win over Bayview.  The match started slowly but it was Camps "2" who took a 4-1 lead in what was 5 close frames.  Tam Sutherland and Daryl Atkins played some good tactical pool to help their Bayview side get back into the match at 4-2.  The team of Bruce Honeyman, Andy Mcwatt, Martin Hill and Carter then won the last four singles frames to secure a comfortable victory.
Trevor Banks and Greg Simpson were the standout players in the Blackstairs "2" v Sinclair Bay match.  They won both their singles frames but neither team could be separated as the match ended in a 5-5 draw.
Suzanne Carter's Camps "1" side got off to a great start against The Queens as they marched into a 4-0 lead after the first set of singles.  Queens player Danny Cormack produced some outstanding shots helping his side get back into the match at 4-2.  Camps "1" then secured the three points as Carter and Shane Honeyman won their second set of singles to stretch their lead to 6-2.  Jim Bain and James Dow won the remaining two frames for the Queens to give the match a final scoreline of 6-4.
