Both the Blackstairs1 and The Francis Street Club's title challenges
were dealt a blow, after 6-5 defeats in week 14 of The Wick &
District Pool League.
The Francis St Club hosted Crown1, and quickly went 4-2 down after the singles matches. The FSC got themselves straight back into it by winning all three of the doubles frames to take a 5-4 lead. However it was composure & the desire to win that resulted in Crown1 winning the last two frames for a 6-5 victory.
Blackstairs1 also lost out 6-5 when they met The Commercial. After a long match, it came down to the deciding frame and it was The Commercial's star player of the season Lee Kerr who once again potted the winning black for victory.
A four hour marathon match out in Lybster saw Bayview1 keep their championship hopes alive with a 7-4 victory over Blackstairs2. Bayview1 led 5-1 after the singles, with Alex Rosie the only player to win a frame for the Blackstairs team. The next two frames went the way of the Blackstairs2 in their attempts to mount a comeback, but it wasnt to be as Bayview1 saw out the match with a 7-4 win.
Sinclair Bay dug themselves out of the relegation zone with an impressive 7-4 win over Camps1.
In division two, Queens2 had the opportunity to go top of the league if they could defeat Bayview2. In a tough battle, it was experience that shone through as Queens2 got the job done with a 6-5 victory. They now only need to win their 2 remaining matches to become second division champions.
Other results in division two saw Mountain Dew2 win impressively against Sasa's Cellar Bar 8-3, and Crown2 record their second win of the season with an 8-3 win over Mountain Dew1.
