Wick & District Pool League

The Queen's Hotel pool team clinched Wick & District Pool League's second division title on Monday night, thanks to an impressive 9-2 win over Bayview "2".  Andrew Coghill played well in the opening stages of the match as Queens went 2-1 ahead.  Harry Candeland, Jim Bain and James Dow all played extremely well to help their Queen's side stretch their lead to 5-1.  The Lybster team pulled a frame back to make it 5-2, before Michael Aitken potted the match winning black for the Queens.  Having clinched the title, the Queens side then won the remaining three frames for a convincing 9-2 win.

Mountain Dew and Camps1 were yet again involved in an extremely close battle.  Having lost their previous three meetings, the Mountain team were in a determined mood to finally get a win over their rivals.  A close first frame went the way of Mountain Dew as Andy Bunn edged out Ciaran Duffy.  Donald Manson, Suzanne Carter and Lesley Ann Begg were all impressive in their singles as they helped Camps1 go 3-1 in front.  Mountain Dew fought back to 3-3 before Duffy & Manson won their doubles to put Camps1 back into the lead at 4-3.  The Mountain side then won three frames in a row, with Gary Flett potting the all important black that clinched the two points.  Despite this loss, Camps1 finished in third place in what was a good first season for this part female team.

Harper's ended their season on a high note as their 7-4 win over Crown2 earned them fourth place.

Steve Atkin's Bayview1 side secured second place in division one after a 7-4 win against Seaforth Club.  Colin Banks won all three of his games on Monday night as he helped his Crown1 team defeat Blackstairs2 7-4.  Blackstairs1 forfeited their match against this seasons first division champions Camps2.  Bruce Honeyman's Camps side ended the season six points clear at the top of the table.

The Queens Hotel will host this years Rockwater Shield Final between Camps2 & Blackstairs2 on Monday 29th April at 8.30pm.
