Wick & District Pool Leagues top two teams in division two went head to head on Monday night as Sinclair Bay hosted The Queens.  With both teams joint top of the table on the same points,  a win was vital in this very close title race.  Sinclair Bay played well to go within one frame of victory at 5-3, however the Queens side had other ideas and won the next two frames to take the match to a deciding frame.  Harry Candeland held his nerves to complete a very good clearance to clinch an important two points for the Queens.
Suzanne Carter's Camps1 side go 4 points clear in third place after an extremely hard fought victory over Harper's.  The Camps team went 3-0 down after some good play from Harper's, but quickly pulled it back to 3-3 after wins from Lesley Ann Begg, Liam More and Aidan Ross.  Peter and Andy Cormack played well in their doubles to put Harper's back in the lead at 4-3.  Carter and Begg continued their excellent doubles record with yet another victory as they won a very important eighth frame to tie the match at 4-4.  More and Ross helped Camps1 go 5-4 ahead, but Harper's never gave up and took the match to a deciding frame at 5-5.  Harper's missed a great opportunity to win the match, and Liam More took full advantage to win the points for Camps1.  The other match in division two saw Mountain Dew record a very well deserved 9-2 victory over bottom side Bayview2.
Camps2 hosted Bayview1 in a top of the table clash in division one, in what turned out to be a contender for match of the season.  Angus Mackay and Andrew Keith played well to get the Lybster team off to a great start by taking the opening two frames.  Camps2 pulled it back to 2-2 with wins from Martin Hill and Andy Mcwatt.  Bayview1 then won 3 of the next four frames to go within one frame of victory at 5-3.  Ian Mcdonald cleared the table in style to make it 5-4, before the Camps side took it to 5-5 thanks to an 8-ball total clearance from the break.  A long tactical deciding frame went the way of the 6 time champions as David Hendry kept his cool to put his Camps2 side two points clear at the top of the table.
Ryan Cook and Alex Rosie played some great pool on Monday night as they helped their Blackstairs2 side to a 7-4 victory over The Seaforth Club.
The Commercial's Kevin Cameron was very impressive as he won all of his games to help the Lybster side to a 6-5 win against Blackstairs1.
The 2013 Captains Cup takes place in the Sinclair Bay Hotel on the 4th of May.  All teams may enter two players for this event, and can also put other players on the reserve list.  Call the league secretary on 07450993155 to enter your players names.  Closing date for entries is midnight on the 3rd of May.
