Commercial Make It 3 Out Of 3

The Commercial remain top of Wick & District Pool Leagues first division as they kept up their 100% record after defeating Blackstairs 8-4 on Monday night.  Gavin Mackay and John Mcgill were the outstanding players of the night, helping the Lybster side get the better of last seasons Rockwater Shield champions.
Ryan Carter and Ian Mcdonald both completed superb 8-ball clearances to help Camps2 win the three points against Alan Larnach's Crown1 side.  The seven time champions won it at 7-3 but some good play from Stevie Wyllie and Stevie Cunningham reduced the deficit for a more respectable 7-5 scoreline.
Bayview1 built on their win against Camps2 last week, as they swept aside The Seaforth Club with an impressive 10-2 scoreline.
The Queens side put in a great shift as they secured their first win of the season, winning 6 frames in a row to defeat Sinclair Bay 7-5.
Retro1 recorded their third 10-2 victory in a row and remain at the top of division two.  They defeated Retro2 in the bars first ever derby match.
Crown2 hosted the Francis St Club on Monday night as both teams looked to maintain their unbeaten records.  An impressive display from the Crown team earned them a 10-2 win and they now occupy second place in division two.
Camps1 were 6-3 ahead on Monday night, but a determined Harper's side fought back to earn a point in a well contested match.
Bayview2 played some fine pool as they grabbed their first win of the season thanks to an 8-4 away victory against Mountain Dew.
Teams will take a break from league action in the next two weeks, as the first round of the Rockwater Shield gets underway.  The pick of the first round ties are Crown1 versus Retro1 and Bayview1 against holders Blackstairs.

New Boy's Win Again

New boy's Retro1 and Francis Street Club both made it two wins out of two on Monday night and they sit joint top of Wick & District Pool Leagues second division.  The Retro side were impressive again this week as they swept aside Camps1 with a 10-2 scoreline.  Graham Harper's Francis Street Club side clinched another three points as they defeated Bayview2 8-4.  James Stewart won all three of his games for his Bayview team but it wasnt enough to stop the club side from getting the victory.

2013 Children In Need Annual Pool Competition

Upcoming 8ball Events In Wick

There are two upcoming pool competitions in Wick in the next few weeks.

The Camps Bar are raising money for Cancer Charities, and they are doing a speed pool competition on Saturday afternoon (19th) starting at 2pm.  It will be £1 per go, and the player with the fastest time will get to take home a beautiful glass 8ball trophy for a year & then defend it the next year.  Speed pool is a great laugh, so we hope to see you there.

Commercial Win Lybster Derby

The 2013/14 Wick & District Pool League season got underway on Monday night, with the Lybster derby between Bayview1 and The Commercial the pick of the ties.  Raymond Gunn was the star player as he won all three of his games to help The Commercial cruise into a 7-1 lead.  Alistair Young knocked in an 8-ball clearance for Bayview, but it was the Commercial who took the three points with a 8-4 scoreline.

Queens2 Defeat Bayview In Final

Queens2 were presented with the Summer Pool League trophy on Monday night after their 7-3 victory over Lybster side Bayview.  Tam Sutherland and Scott Risbridger played well in the early stages of the final as they helped their Queens side take a 4-0 lead.  Both doubles frames were shared, before Bayview captain Steve Atkins pulled it back to 5-2.  The next frame saw Alan Stewart grab the glory with some good play to clinch the Queens side the summer title.

Top 2 Teams Knocked Out Of Cup

Wick & District Summer Pool Leagues top two teams (Sinclair Bay & Camps2) have been knocked out at the semi final stage after they both lost by 6-4 scorelines.  Defending champions Camps2 were up against Queens2 on Monday night with a place in the final up for grabs.  The Queens side got the better of the holders to book their place in next weeks final.  Sinclair Bay played well to take a 4-2 lead over Bayview in their semi final match, but the Lybster side would win the four remaining single...

Mackay Gets Two Totals

Bayview's Angus Mackay was the player of the night on Monday after knocking in two 8-ball clearances in their 6-4 defeat to Sinclair Bay.  The Keiss sides win secured them first place in the league, and they will meet fourth placed Bayview in next weeks semi final play-offs.  Ian Mcdonald and Martin Hill also completed total clearances on Monday night as they helped secure their Camps2 side second place after an 8-2 win over Queens1.  Queens2 got back to winning ways as they ran out 9-1 winne...
