Last Season's Finalist's Destroyed By Crown1

The first legs of The Rockwater Shield Last 16 got underway on Monday night.  Blackstairs1 exacted revenge for the league defeat by battling to a 6-4 win in a hard fought match against their rivals Blackstairs2.
Sinclair Bay remain on great form as they secured a 6-2 victory over Sasa's Cellar Bar.  Defending champions Camps2 ground out a 6-3 win against a determined Queens side, with the highlight of the match being Bruce Honeyman's singles victory leaving his opponent with 7 balls.
Bayview1 and Crown1 are odds on favorites to progress to the next round, both clinching 6-0 wins against Mountain Dew2 and Francis Street Club1 respectively. 
The Seaforth Club gained their first win of the season, defeating 2nd division side Francis Street Club2.  The lads from the FSC will fancy their chances though in the 2nd leg as the tie currently sits at 6-5 to The Seaforth Club.
The Commercial and Camps1 both had comfortable wins over Crown2 and Bayview2.

Thomson Clinches Victory For Camps2

Last season's top two teams went to battle on Monday night in a 4-hour marathon match.  Camps2 traveled out to Lybster to face Bayview1 in what is always a close match-up.  After the singles frames, neither team could be separated as it stood at 3-3.  The next frame saw James Riach complete a total clearance to put the Camps side 4-3 ahead, but the battling Bayview team took the next two frames to go within one frame of victory.  Ryan Carter, Bruce Honeyman and James Riach combined well...

Blackstairs2 Impressive In Derby Win

Week two in The Wick & District Pool league saw Ryan Cook's Blackstairs2 side record an impressive 6-5 victory over their rivals Blackstairs1.  Alan Forbes and Ryan Cook put them 2-1 ahead but were pulled back to 2-2 thanks to Perry Campbell.  John Martin and Keith Budge outsmarted their opponents to put Blackstairs2 4-2 ahead, Blackstairs1 once again kept within a frame as Tam Sutherland and Hamish New won their doubles.  Blackstairs2 then closed out the match by winning the next two ...

Week 1 In The Wick & District Pool League

The opening night of the Wick & District Pool league 2011/12 season saw last seasons division 2 champions Seaforth Club face the current division1 holders Camps2.
Ryan Carter got the match underway against former team mate Gary Macalpine.  Macalpine nearly completed an excellent clearance until he missed a black into the middle pocket.  Carter then took full advantage by completing a total clearance to put Camps2 1-0 ahead.

2011/12 Season Prepares For Kick-Off

The Wick & District Pool League will get underway on Monday 10th October.  Last Seasons 2nd division winners Seaforth Club will face 1st division champions Camps2 in their first ever top flight match.  Last years runners-up Bayview1 will host Camps1, Crown1 will play Blackstairs2, Blackstairs1 will battle it out with FSC1 and newly promoted Queens will face The Commercial.

Mckenzie & Sutherland Win Bfest Pairs Championship

Blackstairs1 clinched the last title of the season as Stuart Mckenzie and Tam Sutherland won The Bfest Annual Pairs Championship.
Group 1 was won by Ryan Carter & David Hendry after they defeated Kevin Bartlett & Sandy Mackenzie in the final match of the group.  Martin Mcleod & Alan Stewart finished in joint second place with Bartlett & Mackenzie, and after a close play-off match it was Mcleod & Stewart who progressed to the semi finals.

Camps2 Clinch Treble

Camps2 have completed their third treble in four years after James Riach won the captains cup tournament last Saturday.
The Crown Bar hosted the event which saw 29 entrants compete for the title.
The top half of the draw saw Riach ease through to the final, defeating Brian Banks, Bruce Honeyman and Hamish New on the way.
The Bottom half of the draw saw Crown1's Alan Larnach on top form.  He defeated Donald Manson, David Hendry, 2 times captains cup winner Stuart Mckenzie, and Greg Beveridge.

Fifth Rockwater Shield Win For Camps2

Camps2 have won The Rockwater Shield for a record fifth time as they defeated The Francis Street Club in the final on Monday night.  They have now won the league and cup double for the second season in a row.

Camps2 5 TIME CHAMPIONS!!!!!!

Camps2 were crowned Wick & District Pool League division one champions for the fifth time, after a 7-4 victory over Blackstairs1 on the final game of the season.
All singles games were closely fought, but it was the Camps side that took a 4-2 lead, with wins from Jimmy Riach, Andy Mcwatt, Bruce Honeyman and Ian Mcdonald.  Riach and Mcwatt then combined well to stretch their lead to 5-2, before Honeyman and Ryan Carter worked their way through a difficult clearance to clinch the 2 points...

Camps2 On Verge Of Title Win

Defending league champions Camps2 look a certainty to retain their title after a 10-1 win against Blackstairs2.  All singles matches were closely fought, however it was the Camps side that took a 6-0 lead.  The lead was extended to 10-0 with all Camps players on top form.  Blackstairs2 saved themselves from being whitewashed after a fine clearance from Keith Budge in the final frame.
Despite the loss, Blackstairs2 are now safe from relegation.
