Top 3 Teams All Victorious

The top three teams in the Wick & District Pool League's first division all recorded impressive victories this week.  Colin Banks' Crown1 side got revenge for their defeat earlier in the season against Blackstairs2, winning 9-2 in a one sided match.  Bayview1 captain Steve Atkins left George Smith with 7 balls on the table, and his team then went on to defeat Camps1 7-4.  Camps2 remain top after a 9-2 win against the Seaforth Club.  The league leaders won the first 6 frames, but Gary Mcalpine got a frame on the board for the Seaforth Club with a fantastic total clearance.  Blackstairs1 remain in fifth place after a 7-4 win away to Francis Street Club1, and Queens are still bottom after losing 7-4 to Commercial.
Sinclair Bay stretched their frame difference lead over Harper's after demolishing Mountain Dew1 10-1.  Harper's fought hard to get a 6-5 win against Francis Street Club2.  The other match in division two went the way of Crown2, as they put in a great performance to beat Mountain Dew2 8-3.

8-Ball Clearances Help Camps1 Advance

Harper's were close to a fantastic comeback in the Rockwater Shield Quarter-Final 2nd leg, but were halted by two 8-ball total clearances from Camps1.
Harper's were one frame away from taking the match to a tie-breaker, but Andrew Mcleod completed a magnificent total clearance to book his Camps1 side a place in the semi final.  Mcleod snookered himself on both his last yellow and the black, but somehow still managed to complete his clearance with two outstanding pots.  George Smith also record...

Blackstairs2 Beat League Leaders

Ryan Cook's Blackstairs2 handed Camps2 their first defeat of the season, with a well deserved 6-5 win.
The match looked to be going in Camps2 favour as they quickly took a 3-0 lead, but great clearances from Trevor Banks and Gordie Steven saw Blackstairs2 get back into the match at 3-2.  Ian Mcdonald temporarily halted the Blackstairs comeback by beating Keith Budge to make it 4-2 to the Camps.  Blacktairs2 then dominated play winning 4 of the next five frames, which saw Alex Rosie pot ...

4 Total Clearances In Eventful Night

An eventful week in the Wick & District Pool League saw four players record total clearances, three of them in the Crown1 v Camps2 match.

Camps2 Put On Masterclass

Division One's top two teams met in the first leg of The Rockwater Shield quarter finals on Monday night.  Camps2 hosted Crown1 in what was expected to be an extremely close match.

Only Frame Difference Seperates Sinclair Bay & Harper's

Wick & District Pool League's second division has reached its halfway point, with Sinclair Bay leading the way by only frame difference over Harper's.
Mountain Dew1 put up a good fight but narrowly lost out 6-5 to Harper's.  Crown2 recorded their first win of the season, beating Bayview2 6-5 in a close match.
The other match in division two went the way of Francis St Club2, who go to third in the league after defeating Mountain Dew2 7-4.

Camps2 Go 4 Points Clear At Top Of Division 1

Camps2 are now four points clear at the top of division one after defeating The Commercial 7-4.  George Zindilis' Commercial side performed well in a close match, but it was the Camps lads who still remain undefeated this season. 
Blackstairs 1 & 2 fell further behind the league leaders as they both lost 6-5 to The Queens and FSC1 respectively.

Blackstairs2 Progress After Tiebreaker

First Wins For Seaforth & FSC1

The Seaforth Club and Francis Street Club1 secured their first 2 points of the season, both with 6-5 victories.  Seaforth Club hosted their rivals from the second division last year, The Queens.  In a keenly contested affair both teams could not be separated after the singles as it stood at 3-3.  Influentual performances from Gary Macalpine and team captain Craig Durrand were the key factors in Seaforth Club's win.

Crown1 & Blackstairs2 Remain Undefeated

Colin Banks' Crown1 side travelled out to Lybster to face Bayview1 in an important match for both teams.  Crown1 controlled the match well as they went 4-2 ahead after the singles in mostly tactical frames.  The next two frames were shared to put the Crown side a frame away from victory as it stood at 5-3.  Eric Larnach and Stevie Cunningham combined extremely well in their doubles frame as they clinched a vital two points for Crown1.
