Crown1 have won their first ever Wick & District Pool League title, as they were crowned division one champions on Monday night after a 7-5 victory over Blackstairs.  In one of the most open title races in recent memory, it was Alan Larnach's Crown team who would clinch the championship putting an end to Camps2's five year winning streak.  The title race was expected to go to the final week of the season, but Crown1 capitalised on the defeats of both Sinclair Bay and Camps2 to win it a week earlier.  Singles wins from Colin Banks, Alan Stewart and Martin Hill saw Crown1 take a 3-0 lead, but Ryan Cook's Blackstairs side battled their way back into it.  Captain Larnach put his Crown side 4-2 up, before all six of their players combined well to take the next three doubles games to secure the match and the division one title. Bayview1 have moved up to second place after a convincing 10-2 victory against Greg Simpson's Sinclair Bay.  Ronnie Simpsons total clearance was the highlight in what was an outstanding team performance by the Lybster side.  The Commercial  won their first match of the season, as they ran out 7-5 winners against Camps2.  The former champions had started well and would go into a 5-4 lead, but The Commercial would secure all three points by winning the last three doubles games. Retro1 were again impressive this week as they got off to a flyer by taking seven of the opening eight frames to secure all three points against Camps1.  The match would end in a more respectable 7-5 scoreline as the Camps side won the last four frames.
Craig Durand's Seaforth Club side are now at the top of division two with only one match remaining.  An impressive 8-4 win over Retro2 means a win next week against Harpers will see them crowned division two champions.  Queens Hotel slip down to second place as they could only manage a draw against the Mountain Dew.  The Francis Street Clubs 10-2 win against Crown2 means they sit in third place, but only two points behind the league leaders.  Harpers & Bayview2 could not be separated on Monday night, as their match ended in a 6-6 draw.
The Francis Street Club will host the 2015 Captains Cup event on April 4th at 12pm.  Teams must enter their players by contacting league secretary Ryan Carter on 07788477738.
