The first legs of Wick & District Pool League's Rockwater Shield semi finals produced the match of the season in one, and a massive upset in the other.  Alan Larnach's Crown1 team hosted Bruce Honeymans Camps2 in a match that produced three 8-ball total clearances and some first class finishing.  Ryan Carter got the Camps Bar side off to a great start, before Alan Stewart leveled it a 1-1 in two extremely close frames.  Martin Hill put Camps2 back in the lead at 2-1 and an outstanding finish from Alec Thompson made it 3-1, however a total clearance from Larnach, and great potting from Stevie Cunningham helped level the match once again at 3-3.  Current Bfest Pairs holders Carter and Honeyman teamed up well in the next frame to make it 4-3, but a sensational 8-ball clearance by Colin Banks leveled things up again.  The next two frames went the way of the Camps side, with David Hendry knocking in an excellent total clearance and Hill sealing the next to win the match 6-4.
The other semi final saw second division side Francis Street Club travel out to Lybster to face top tier side Commercial.  The Comm got off to a great start, winning the first two frames impressively.  A mixture of fine play and good luck saw the second division side win 6 frames in a row to win the tie 6-2.  Graham Harper, Brian Munro and Michael Mackay all put in good performances in this 1st leg tie.  The Commercial will need a big performance in the second leg to have a chance of making it to the final.
