Wick & District Pool League's 2nd and 3rd placed teamss (Crown1 & Bayview1) battled it out on Monday night as both teams looked to keep their title challenges intact. Colin Banks got the Crown side off to a great start to help them take a 1-0 lead, before Ted Gunn pulled one back for Bayview. Angus Mackay, Andrew Keith and a total clearance from Steve Atkins helped Bayview1 take a 4-1 lead, before Stevie Cunningham won a frame for Crown to make it 4-2. Gunn played exceptionally well again in his doubles frame to help the Lybster team go 5-2 ahead. Bayview1 then ended Crown1's title hopes as they reeled off the next four frames for a 9-2 win. The Bayview side are four points behind league leaders Camps2 with 2 games remaining, they will need two big victories to have any chance of catching the 6 time champions. Camps2 recorded their second 10-1 win in a row, as they clinched another two points with a win over The Commercial.
The other match in division one was a close affair as The Seaforth Club edged out Blackstairs1 with a 6-5 win.
The Queens were involved in an almighty battle with Mountain Dew in Monday nights second division match. Both teams went frame for frame all the way until the match stood at 5-5. The Queens determination to keep their title hopes alive proved the key factor as they won the deciding frame for a 6-5 victory. Sinclair Bay were yet again impressive as they disposed of Harper's 9-2. Bayview2 won their first two points of the season as Crown2 forfeited their match.
Teams are reminded they can enter 2 players for this years Captains Cup event, which will be held in the Sinclair Bay Hotel on the 4th of May. Teams can also enter other players on the reserve list if they wish.
