Crown1 & Camps2 Record First Wins Of Season
Posted by Ryan Carter on Wednesday, October 29, 2014
Alan Larnach's Crown1 side recovered well after last weeks defeat to Bayview1, as they secured the three points in a 8-4 home win against Sinclair Bay. Colin Banks got the match underway with a fantastic total clearance, and his Crown team would go on to race into a 5-0 lead. Greg Simpson's Keiss side got themselves back into the match by winning three of the next four frames, but it was Crown1 who held their nerve to win the two frames that would give them victory. Bruce Honeyman's Camps2 side won their first match on Monday night after a tough derby match against Camps1. The defending champions would go 5-1 ahead after the singles games, but most of those frames were extremely close and could have gone either way. Camps1 pulled it back to 5-3 thanks to good performances in their doubles, but Camps2 secured all three points after doubles wins from David Hendry & Ian McDonald and Bruce Honeyman & Ryan Carter. Retro1 continued their great start to the season as they earned a draw out in Lybster against Bayview1. James Sutherland's 8-ball clearance for Retro was the highlight of the match. The other match in division one also ended in a draw as Commercial and Blackstairs could not be separated.
The Seaforth Club played exceptionally well to defeat Crown2 8-4, with Donald Coghill the standout performer winning all three of his games. Owen Harrold got the Crown side off to a good start, before Coghill and Craig Durrand won two of the next three frames as the match was tied at 2-2. Phil Ablett and Sean Beales put the club side 4-2 up after fine performances in the last two singles games. Crown2 clawed their way back into the match as they trailed 5-4, but the Seaforth lads won the last three doubles to win 8-4. Graham Harper and Danny Inned helped their Francis Street Club side take a 6-4 lead in their match on Monday night, but the Mountain Dew put in a great team performance to fight back and earn a draw. Bayview2 won their opening frame against Queens Hotel, but it would be their only success as Queens won the remaining eleven frames for an emphatic victory. Retro2 and Harpers could not be separated in their division two clash, as both teams earned a point.
