The Francis Street Club hosted the 3rd Annual Bfest Pairs Championships this past weekend, with players from both divisions battling it out for the last title of the Wick & District Pool League season.
Seaforth Club's pairing of George Smith and Nathan Lightly won all of their group games on Saturday, playing some great pool to book their place in Sundays semi final.  Greg Thompson and Gavin Simpson were also in form as they too qualified from group A.  The big surprise of the group stages was the elimination of last years finalists Greg Simpson and Jordan Tait.
There were no real surprises in group B as Alan Forbes & James Riach (Blackstairs2) and Bruce Honeyman & Ryan Carter (Camps2) were all impressive as they too secured their places in Sundays semi finals.
Forbes and Riach got off to a great start in their semi final match, taking a 3-1 lead over Sinclair Bay's Thompson and Simpson.   The Keiss lads done well to level it at 3-3, but the Blackstairs duo took control of the match as they ran out 6-4 winners.
The other semi final saw the experienced pairing of Honeyman and Carter race into a 3-0 lead over Smith and Lightly.  Some fine potting from the Seaforth Club players helped get themselves back into the match as they leveled it at 3-3.  The next three frames went the way of the Camps Bar players to clinch a their place in the final.
Honeyman and Carter would meet Forbes and Riach in a race to seven frames for the Bfest Pairs title.
After eight tactical frames of a very high standard, neither team could be separated as Honeyman and Carter came from 4-2 down to level it at 4-4.  Forbes and Riach produced some excellent potting as they went to within 1 frame of victory to lead 6-4.  Honeyman and Carter showed great character to win the next two frames to make it 6-6, meaning the match would be come down to a thirteenth frame decider.
The Camps players controlled the final frame until it came down to the all important match winning ball which was unreachable.  Carter was forced to play it left handed, which he successfully executed to win the match.
