Camps2 were crowned
Wick & District Pool League division one champions for the fifth
time, after a 7-4 victory over Blackstairs1 on the final game of the
season.
All singles games were closely fought, but it was the Camps side that took a 4-2 lead, with wins from Jimmy Riach, Andy Mcwatt, Bruce Honeyman and Ian Mcdonald. Riach and Mcwatt then combined well to stretch their lead to 5-2, before Honeyman and Ryan Carter worked their way through a difficult clearance to clinch the 2 points. Camps2 have successfully retained their league title, and will look to do the same next week by retaining The Rockwater Shield when they face The Francis Street Club in the final.
Bayview1 secured second place in the league after an impressive 8-3 victory over The Francis Street Club, knocking the Rockwater Shield finalists down to fourth and elevating Crown1 up to third place.
Liam Ewarts Camps1 side made sure they were safe from relegation after a 6-5 win against Blackstairs2, which meant despite their 7-4 win Sinclair Bay are the team to be relegated to the second division next season.
The Rockwater Shield final will be held in The Blackstairs Lounge on Monday, and The Captains Cup will be held in The Crown Bar on the 7th May. All teams are reminded to submit two players for the captains cup before the day of the event.
