Posted by Ryan Carter on Tuesday, December 4, 2012
Wick & District Pool League's defending champions Camps "2" produced their best performance of the season on Monday night with a 7-4 win over top side Bayview "1". This win has seen the Camps Bar side avoid falling six points behind the league leaders, as they are now only 2 points adrift of Bayview "1" and Blackstairs "1". Angus Mackay's fantastic clearance in the opening frame saw him hand Ryan Carter his first defeat of the season as Bayview "1" went 1-0 up. Bruce Honeyman and Andy Mcwatt came out on top in their tactical battles as the Camps side got back into the match to lead 2-1. Billy Ackland played well to level the match at 2-2 before Ian Mcdonald helped Camps "2" go back into the lead. The Lybster team fought hard and played some outstanding tactical shots which helped them tie the match at 4-4. Mcdonald & David Hendry combined well in the doubles as Camps "2" went 5-4 ahead. Captain Bruce Honeyman kept his cool in the next frame to complete and excellent 6 ball clearance to win the match for the Camps.
Crown "2" produced an excellent team performance this week as they picked up their first two points of the season. A very close match ended with them winning 6-5 against joint league leaders Blackstairs "1".
Ryan Cook's Blackstairs "2" team were involved in an almighty battle with close rivals Crown "1" on Monday evening. The two evenly matched sides could only be separated by a single frame with Alan Larnach's Crown side coming out 6-5 victors.
The Queens continued their good form this season with another impressive victory, winning 7-4 against The Commercial. Jim Bain done well to leave his opponent with 7 balls remaining, as the Queens side got off to the perfect start. Harry Candeland yet again played an important role in his sides win, knocking in a nice 5 ball clearance to clinch the two points.
Sinclair Bay and The Seaforth Club were in no mood for messing about this week as they both recorded 10-1 wins over their opponents. The Kiess side defeated Camps "1" while the Seaforth got back to winning ways with a great team performance to beat Mountain Dew.
George Bakers Harper's side got their second win of the season with a hard fought 6-5 victory over Bayview "2".
