Blackstairs1 Defeat Camps2
Posted by Ryan Carter on Tuesday, July 24, 2012
Perry Campbell's Blackstairs1 side are now top of the Wick & District Summer Pool League table after defeating Camps2 6-4 in a high quality match. Tam Sutherland, Stuart Mckenzie and Perry Campbell were all successful in the opening stages as they helped Blackstairs take a 3-0 lead. The Camps side then produced some well executed clearances to get right back into it at 3-3. Tam Sutherland was next up as he faced off against Ryan Carter in an important seventh frame. After controlling the frame tactically early on, Sutherland let Carter in for a chance of a clearance but poor positional play forced Carter to take on the double which was subsequently missed. Sutherland took full advantage to finish off the frame in style and get Blackstairs' noses in front again at 4-3. Campbell and Mckenzie then secured the three points for Blackstairs1 winning the next two frames impressively.
Sinclair Bay captain Greg Simpson played some exceptional pool as he helped his side to a 7-3 win against The Queens. Sinclair Bay are now in fourth place and will qualify for the semi finals if they can beat Camps1 next Monday. Blackstairs2 got back on track with a 7-3 win over Bayview, however they will need a favour next week from Camps1 if they are to have any chance of overtaking Sinclair Bay for fourth spot. George Zindilis' Commercial side won their first three points of the season thanks to a 6-4 victory over Camps1. Sandy Robertson was the man of the match as he won all of his games.
