Posted by Ryan Carter on Tuesday, January 22, 2013
Craig Durrand's Seaforth Club side came close to an upset victory over league leaders Bayview1 on Monday night, but lost out in a very close deciding frame. Kevin Beales got the club side off to a great start with a clinical performance, before Andrew Keith leveled the match at 1-1. The Seaforth Club then won three frames in a row in impressive fashion thanks to wins from Phil Ablett, George Smith and Dale Johnston. The Bayview team then displayed their fantastic tactical ability to win four frames in a row for a 5-4 lead. Beales was again impressive in the next frame as he leveled the match at 5-5. Durrand had a chance to win it in the deciding frame but gave away two shots when attempting to pot his last yellow. Steve Atkin's Bayview team then took full advantage of the two shots to win a vital two points which keeps them top of the league.
Alan Larnach's Crown1 side were extremely impressive in their derby match against Crown2. A 10-1 win keeps them in second place, two points behind the leaders.
A fabulous team performance from Bruce Honeyman's Camps2 side secured a 10-1 victory over Bayview2.
George Bakers Harper's team got back to winning ways with a hard fought victory over The Queens. Andy Cormack won all of his games for Harper's as he helped his team to a well deserved two points.
Tam Sutherlands Blackstairs1 side are doing well to keep their title challenge intact, they beat Sinclair Bay 7-4 in a very good match.
Blackstairs2 disposed of Mountain Dew without any trouble, racking up a 10-1 win.
Suzanne Carter's Camps1 side hosted George Zindilis' Commercial side on Monday night in an important game for both sides. The Commercial were looking to get back to winning ways as they search for a top seven spot, and Camps1 wanted the points to keep up their challenge for the second divison title once the league splits into two divisions. Liam More and Donald Manson played well to give the Camps side an early lead at 2-0. Aidan Ross done well in his singles match to make it 3-1, however wins from Raymond Gunn and Kevin Cameron leveled the match at 3-3. The first two doubles frames were shared, before Carter and Lesley Ann Begg defeated Gunn and Cameron to put Camps1 back in the lead at 5-4. The Lybster team won the next frame, taking the match to a decider. A close frame was eventually won by the Commercial with John Mcgill potting the all important black ball.
