7th Title Win For Camps "2"
Posted by Ryan Carter on Tuesday, April 16, 2013
Wick & District Pool League's division one title was won by Bruce Honeyman's Camps2 side for the seventh time on Monday night. An 8-3 victory over Crown1 secured the Camps team their fourth successive title win, and their sixth in seven years. Ryan Carter and Alec Thomson got the champions off to a great start, before Andy Mcwatt, Martin Hill and Ian Mcdonald made it 5-0. An eight ball clearance from Stevie Cunningham in the next game got a frame on the board for Alan Larnach's Crown side. They pulled another one back to make it 5-2 but Hill played well in his doubles to secure the win for Camps2. Honeyman's side now set their sights on a seventh Rockwater Shield title when they face Ryan Cook's Blackstairs2 team in the final in two weeks.
Tam Sutherland's Blackstairs1 side produced the upset of the night as they came out on top against Bayview1 with an impressive 8-3 victory.
Raymond Gunn and Kevin Cameron put in great performances for The Commercial on Monday night as they defeated Blackstairs2 6-5. James Riach knocked in an 8-ball clearance for his Blackstairs side, and is now only 1 behind Ryan Carter in the total clearance challenge cup.
The Queens are now just one game away from winning the second division title, they beat Camps1 6-5 in a competitive match. Harry Candeland, James Dow and Jim Bain played some great pool to help their side to victory. A win over Bayview2 next Monday night will see them crowned champions.
Crown2 took the two points in their match against Mountain Dew thanks to a 7-4 win. Bayview2 forfeited their match against Sinclair Bay.
Trophies will be presented to the winners of division one and two in The Queens Hotel on Monday 29th of April prior to the Rockwater Shield Final match between Camps2 and Blackstairs2.
