The first round first legs of the 2014/15 Rockwater Shield got underway on Monday night, with Lybster teams Bayview1 and Commercial earning healthy leads to take into next weeks 2nd leg ties.  Dale Johnston of The Seaforth Club got his side off to a good start, but George Zindilis' Commercial showed great desire to win all of the remaining frames to score a 6-1 first leg win.  Steve Atkins' Bayview1 team made the trip through to Wick to face Retro2, and would come away with a well deserved 6-3 victory.  Ian Mcdonald got Camps2 off to a great start against Crown1 thanks to an excellent 8-ball clearance, but a goood team performance from the Crown lads helped them earn a 6-3 win.  Alan Larnach (Crown1) also knocked in an 8-ball clearance in this match.  Last season's finalists Francis Street Club proved again that they are a great cup side, as they defeated Harpers and take a 6-2 lead into next weeks second leg.  Mark Alexander and Rian MacGregor were the outstanding performers for Camps1 on Monday night, as they secure a 6-4 first leg win at home to Retro1.  The second division's top two sides (Queens & Mountain Dew) went head to head on Monday night, and after a very tight match its was the Queens who would grab a 6-3 victory.  Bayview2 hosted Crown2 in a match that went all the way to the deciding frame, and it was the home side who would clinch a 6-5 win.  Ryan Cook's Blackstairs Lounge earned a hardfought 6-3 win against Greg Simspon's Sinclair Bay in a close match.
